How I got here... Professional "IT" History (1980-2022 - 42+ years)

Early on, I was a developer/analyst for the U. S. Airforce (Pentagon) and several corporate entities across multiple industries. I coded in lower level (Assembler, C, etc.) to high level (COBOL, Fortran, etc.) on multiple hardware environments (Honeywell, IBM & Unix) utilizing multiple operating systems & databases (GCOS, IBM, Linux, DOS, CICS, JCL, VSAM, IMS, DB2, SAS).

More recently, a seasoned professional with Forty plus (42+) years of experience in Management, Program/Project Management, Systems Analysis & Design, and Computer Programming. A Manager for up to 50 resources (FTE, Consultants, On/Off Shore), which includes planning, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews and career development. I managed by using strong communication, organization, interpersonal, leadership, facilitation, strategic planning, problem solving and systems analysis skills. A project/systems liaison for both internal and external business partners. I developed and complied with corporate policy, procedures and best practices. I adapt quickly to focus on three main areas: People, Vision & Administration.

Where I want to go... Professional "IT" Future (2022-???? - ?? years)

Life has presented to me an opportunity to change my career path and return to my initial roots as a developer. Although I've been in management the past 30 years of my 42+ year IT career, I've always kept close to the technical side of IT. I always seemed to find more enjoyment in the tactical side than the holistic. A lot has changed since I was a true programmer (internet, languages, operating systems, etc.). The best way for me to catch up with all these changes was to go back to school and learn about the latest and greatest tools and techniques.

I enrolled at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in their Web Programmer Certification program. The program provided training in Front End, Back End & Database studies. I was able to complete the program in one year with a 4.0 GPA. I am now enrolled in the Associate Degree program. I still am maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I hope to utilize these new skills and build on them with other Full Stack learning opportunities. My ideal initial role will allow me to strengthen what I've studied, experience new tools and techniques and provide value to the team I'm on.
